Financial Privacy Consultant's Intimidation Scheme

Dear Sir/Madam:

On behalf of our client Business.com, Inc. ("Business.com") we are 
writing to object to your posting on your Web site (at
www.appleby.net/netscam/FPCscam.html) of a copy of a Business.com 
banner advertisement, and improperly identifying the company as an 
"FPC Sponsor."  
This is a false and very damaging statement, as your site alleges that
Financial Privacy Consultants, Inc. ("FPC") has bilked money from at 
least one individual through a fraudulent, Internet-based scam.  
Business.com, however, has no prior knowledge of, or affiliation with, 
FPC, and our client certainly has never agreed to sponsor FPC in any way.
Therefore the improper posting on your Web site of the Business.com banner
under the false headline "Sites sponsoring Financial Privacy Consultants / 
are they suspect too??" is libelous and harmful to Business.com's 
reputation and goodwill.

Business.com is a highly reputable online company that services the 
business-to-business market by providing an extensively researched, 
highly categorized directory of businesses through its Web site at
www.business.com. The company has invested enormous resources in 
obtaining a management team of highly reputable business experts, 
creating an extensive online business directory and marketing its 
services and name.  
Your libelous acts therefore have damaged, and continue to damage,
Business.com's significant reputation and goodwill. Accordingly, we demand 
that you immediately remove from your Web site the copy of the Business.com
banner advertisement and any other references to Business.com.

Accordingly, we demand that you immediately remove the copy of 
Business.com's banner advertisement, the identification Business.com as an 
FPC Sponsor, and all other false or misleading references to Business.com 
from your Web site, and provide written confirm that you have done so by 
3:00 p.m. Eastern Time on Monday, June 10, 2000.  
Absent receipt of the requested confirmation, we will recommend that our 
client consider further legal action.

We trust you understand the seriousness of this matter and look forward 
to a prompt resolution.  
Please contact us if you wish to discuss such a resolution.  
Otherwise, we expect to receive the confirmation requested above.
 
This letter is strictly without waiver or prejudice of our client's rights,
claims and remedies, all of which are hereby expressly reserved.

------------------------ Dear (whoever) You have lost us a bit somewhere along the line - what exactly are you thinking of suing FOR?? All we did was state a few facts, as follows:- Fact No. 1 - Financial Privacy Con(sultants) DID take Mrs. Goose for US$2000,-, no doubts about that, and can be easily proven Fact No. 2 - your company IS advertising on the Financial Privacy Con(sultants) web site, thus has some sort of business relationship with a scamster Fact No. 3 - listing somebody else's sponsors is NOT against the law, and "are they suspect too?" is NOT a libelous statement, but merely a question directed to the general public at large A question which, btw, you have responded to with a blatant lie, insisting repetitively that you have absolutely NO connection to Financial Privacy Con(sultants) .... seems to me, it is us who ought to be suing you - for falsehood and harassment. Anyway, we are confident that any self-respecting court would dismiss your plea before you could utter "Your Honour" a second time. Furthermore, sending a threatening letter on the 7th July demanding compliance by the 10th June isn't awe-inspiring either ..... but we just might accommodate your request - by the very next 10th of June. Meanwhile, there are only TWO ways to get your complimentary advertisement off our website - one is by completely disassociating your company from Financial Privacy Con(sultants), who are most definitely carrying on an illegal operation and conning people out of their money. The other way is of course for Financial Privacy Con(sultants) to return what is not theirs to keep. Since you appear to be trigger-happy, may we humbly suggest that you turn your artillery towards the true offenders. yours sincerely silly goose -- ------------------------
