Financial Privacy Consultant's Intimidation Scheme

..From an FPC advertiser to Silly Goose, dd 6th July 2000 :-

Dear Sirs:

It has recently been brought to our attention that your website at
http://www.appleby.net/netscam/FPCscam.html lists our company as 
an "FPC Sponsor".

This is to inform you that we have absolutely no relationship with
Financial Privacy Consultants (FPC) and no absolutely nothing about 
that company or its allegedly fraudulent activities.
We are not and have never "sponsored" that company or its website.

Furthermore, when I went to their website at 
http://www2.privacy-consultants.com, I saw nothing there that 
suggested any relationship whatsoever to BizRate.com.

While I presume that you are posting information about FPC and its
apparently nefarious activities in good faith, there is absolutely no
basis for suggesting that BizRate.com has some sponsorship or other
relationship with that company, and your listing us as an "FPC Sponsor"
is libelous and damaging to our reputation.

As you may know, BizRate.com is a well-known and trusted U.S.-based
consumer marketplace which rates online merchants and is used by many
thousands of consumers every day. 
We have nothing to do with FPC or offshore bank accounts, etc.

Please remove any reference to BizRate.com from your website no later
than next Monday, July 10, 2000, or we will have no choice but to 
pursue legal action to protect our good name and avoid it being falsely
associated with the FPC business described on your website.

If you would like to discuss this further, please contact me.
Otherwise, please remove any reference to BizRate.com from your site 
and confirm to me by return email that you have done so.
