My grandparents immigrated from Croatia in 1903 and
I would like to have information concerning the area
where they may have lived in Croatia. I know it is near
Rijeka or Opatia. Where do I begin?

Webmistress' comment
For starters, you could try and get some info from the
State Archives, Rijeka
adress: Drzavni arhiv u Rijeci; Park Nikole Hosta 2;
Rijeka 51000; Croatia
tel/fax: ++385 51 33 64 45; 33 64 47; 32 71 18
e-mail: povijesni-arhiv-ri@ri.tel.hr; riarhiv@hi.hinet.hr
Alternatively, you could write a letter requesting information
to families with the surname Bezjak - there are 45 listed
in and around Rijeka, addresses of whom i could let
you have, should you wish to take that route
Of course, don¹t forget to refer to these pages from
time to time, as there might be some clues from our
visitors

Family Blazevic |
Location: |
Bosnia Herzegovina |
Hello
My name is Donna and I am researching the family surname
of Blazevic.
My grandfather came to the United States in the year
ranging between 1910-1913 and settled in Pittsburgh
Pennsylvania on the North Side. My grandfather's first
name was Blase, and I am not sure of where in Bosnia
Herzegovina he was born.
He married a woman name Anna Misetich (sp) there and
came to the States a little before my mother was born,
which was in 1910. Supposedly they came here when my
mother was 2 or 3. My aunt has said her name in the
native tongue was Jennie, which they translated into
Ann.
It has been very hard to find any information on this
family due to the various spelling of the last name.
If you know anything about this family or where I might
look futher for information I would very much appreciate
it, since my mother died when I was 10, and I did not
get to ask her the usual questions one asks while growing
up.
Thank you very much
