Date of Birth - 7 October 1934 in Pedena (Pican)Istria.
Her parents' first names were Francesco (father) and Gisella (mother). Her siblings names were Theodore (brother) and Francesca (sister).
She migrated to Australia (Melbourne Victoria) in 1968

These details relate to my mother (who has passed away). I am trying to locate the names/addresses/phone numbers of churches in the town of Pedena so I can contact them to obtain a copy of her birth certificate.

My grandfather Jurocz (George) Bakota was born in Podstrana on March 9, 1887 - he arrived in New York, USA on December 29, 1906. He married Mary Zubrenic on August 16, 1913 in Portland, Oregon, US.

Mary was born in Retfalu on January 30, 1890 - her father's name was Frank Zubrenic and her mother's name was Katarina Seiter. They had a son Frank, born in Portland on March 13, 1915 and a daughter Emily (my mother), born in St. Louis, Missouri on October 23, 1916. They also had a daughter Marie who died at 4 years old.

I would appreciate any information regarding the Bakota and Zubrenic family history.

I heard he lived in St-Louis in the early 1900's. One of his son's, my great-grandfather, has the name Ivan and lived till the age of 86 and died in 1986 in the village of Lisicic, 8km from Benkovac in the Zadar County.

Josip Mihelcic born l875 (l878) died l9ll (l9l3). Came to US about l896. Settled in Calumet, Michigan and was a miner.

Marija Bajuk (Mary Bayuk)born l879, died l959.
Came to US l89l with parents (no names) and brother Tony Bayuk. Settled in Calumet, Mich where she married Joseph Mihelchich. I have no dates other than supposed birth/death.

Franjo (Frank) born about l878-died l937.
After Joseph Mihelchich died, Frank married my grandmother Mary Bayuk in Chrisholm, Minnesota on 22 Oct l9l3.
I figure Mary and Frank were married 24 years and that Mary lived 22 years after Frank died.

A recently received death certificate for Frank Barkovich lists his parents as:
George Barkovich and Mary Kobe.
Frank also had a younger brother John with same parents. Parents both from Croatia.

Location: Rijeka / Fuime

Joseph William Barta left Fuime (now Rijeka) in 1905 on the Campathia out of England. He was 24 years old. He settled in Martins Ferry, Ohio. His wife, Elizabeth (surname before marriage unknown) came after he did.
They had one son, Joseph William Barta Jr, in 1908. They returned to Hungary in the 1920's and visited relatives.

Have photographs of trip back to Hungary/Croatia and relatives.
Have postcards written to and from Barta and relatives.

Location listed on Ellis Island rcords: Lansinja, Croatia

They immigrated to the US through Ellis Island in May of 1902. Records listed "husband, Joseph" as who they were coming to join in the US. Ivana was 23 and Franjo was 4 when they immigrated.
