...Elcich

Posted by: Kay Elcich on January 28, 2001

Name 1: Mate Elcic; Elcich
Name 2: Kata Kasm; Kashun
Location: Sesak; Sisak (?)

I am looking for any living relatives I may have in the Croatia/Bosnia/Serbia area.
The last name is Elcic has various spellings and can be pronounced "else-itch" or "elch-itch" and to the best of my knowledge has been Elcic until my family came to Canada when it was changed to Elcich.
My grandparents names are Mike (Mate? Mato?) Elcich and Katie (Kata) Kasm (which used to be Kashun).
From what i know, my family originates from the Sesak area.
I am also looking for information as to the nationality of my last name, if it really *is* Croatian or if perhaps it could be Serbian or another.
Any help appreciated.

...Evinger

Posted by: Julia Evinger on June 10, 2002

Name: Evinger; Ewinger
Location: Croatia (??)

Trying to find the parents of Johann Philipp Ewinger. He came from Tscherwenka to Siwatz in 1792. He was born in 1773, probably in the Pfalz region. He married Margareta Anna Bohmer in 1793 in Neu Siwatz. The family then lived in Apatin. Geza Evinger married Elisabeth Reisinger.
Any information about the Ewinger/Evinger family in the early 1800's would be appreciated
